PhytoErad© is an effective, safe and natural way to prevent infestation by insects, especially mites, avoiding the use of insecticides that can generate residues in meat and eggs. As a result, insects do not land on the birds and do not feed on their blood.

INDICATIONS

PhytoErad© is an effective, safe and natural way to prevent infestation by insects, especially mites, avoiding the use of insecticides that can generate residues in meat and eggs.

It has four complementary mechanisms of action:

1) Toxicity by direct contact: certain essential oils present in the product inhibit acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme necessary for neurotransmission in arthropods.

2) Ovicidal activity: the essential oils prevent the eggs from hatching.

3) Mechanical effects: essential oils alter cuticular waxes that protect mites and block spiracles. Spiracles are the openings in the exoskeleton of insects and mites that allow air to enter the trachea.

4) Repellent effect: red mites are very sensitive to changes in temperature and odors. When essential oils are administered through drinking water and reach the digestive system of the bird, they are absorbed into the blood and then excreted by the grooming gland, together with the oil that this gland naturally secretes. When the bird rubs its beak and head against the gland, essential oils and grooming oil are distributed along the body feathers and wings. As a result, the smell of essential oils repels mites and insects, which leave the bird’s body.
